In order to maintain my Italian fluency, I plan to study in Italy annually. A language course enables me to become immersed in the day-to-day life of the locals. I’ll be sharing tips and photos to inspire you to visit these towns, too.
Cefalù is a picturesque fishing village on the Mediterranean Sea located one hour from Palermo. I chose to study at Culturforum Language School because it is located in the town where my grandfather Glorioso grew up. I’m still fortunate to have cousins that live in the historic center “centro storico” so I could walk “pochi passi” or a few steps from the school to my cousins house for lunch.
Cefalù has many charms such as La Cattedrale or Norman Cathedral , La Rocca if you’re feeling adventurous, Museo Mandralisca known for the “Portrait of an Unknown Man” and Teatro Cicero where scenes from Nuovo Cinema Paradiso were filmed. A walk along the lungomare is a peaceful way to spend an afternoon. There is an abundance of quaint shops and restaurants along the “corso” which is the main street in the pedestrian-only historic center.
